Admission to the program

Students are enrolled in different categories;

Direct Entry Scheme:

Candidates must have;

  • Sat the UCE or its equivalent and obtained a certificate in it.
  • Obtained principle passes in biology and chemistry taken at the same sitting of the UACE, must also have done physics or mathematics and obtained at least a subsidiary pass in it. The essential subjects are Biology and chemistry while physics or Mathematics is a relevant subject
  • Fulfill other admission requirements that will be from time to time determined by the University Admissions Board

b) Mature Age Entry:

A candidate must sit and pass the mature age exams set and marked by accredited institutions to conduct mature Age entry examinations. He/she must also satisfy all the other university requirements for admission to the University under the mature age entrance scheme

c) Diploma Holders Entry Scheme:

A candidate must have the following;

  • At least a credit diploma or its equivalent in a health discipline from a recognized institution
  • A candidate must sit and pass the diploma entry exams set and marked by the University.
  • Fulfill other admission requirements that will be from time to time determined by the University Admissions Board

Teaching methods/approaches

The curriculum is delivered using the problem-based learning approach (PBL). In PBL, students are taught using a mix of tutorials, self-directed learning sessions, skills/laboratory sessions, seminars, clinical exposure, clinical clerkship, overview lecturers, and community-based education activities

Student involvement and feed back

Students have Associations through which they can give feedback. In addition, each class has a representative who can deliver the students’ concerns.
