Mrs. Ethel Nuwamanya is a Clinical Psychologist currently pursuing her Master of Science Degree in Clinical Psychology (Research Phase) at Makerere University. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Community Psychology, Makerere University, College of Humanities & Social Sciences. She also holds a Certificate in HIV/AIDS from The Aids Support Organization (TASO). Her Masters Research examines the influence of Parental Acceptance rejection, self-concept in early adolescents and her Undergraduate thesis focused on the role of parenting styles, Peer influence on risky sexual behavior among adolescents. Currently she is a Teaching Assistant at Busitema University, Department of Psychiatry, Faculty of Health Sciences. She supports the Department in the delivery of Mental Health related course units. Ethel has more than 10 years of professional field experience and has served with Kampala City Councial Authority (KCCA) as a Clinical Psychologist, the Transcultural Psychosocial Organization (TPO) Uganda as a Clinical Psychologist, Global Health Uganda/ Makerere University college of Health Sciences, School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry as a Research Assistant, Global Health Uganda as a Research Assistant / Quality Control Assessor and with Case Medical Hospital as an HIV/AIDS Counselor. Her research interests are aligned with the treatment of children with cognitive disabilities that have survived cerebral malaria or severe malaria anemia by using neuropsychological interventions. Ethel is also passionate about mental health and the associated treatment / management in a bid to create awareness in the field and to promote wholesome living for persons with Mental Health concerns. Her career objective is to be part of a world class research team actively contributing to the body of knowledge in Mental Health diagnosis and treatment in Uganda and beyond.
